Art Fun Facts - Part 3

Hello folks today is the final art news we will do so far. We have a sculpture with us today. That sculpture is… the thinker!

This sculpture is so special for so many reasons. And if you want to figure out why, if you will stay tuned!

One reason why this is special is that Rodin came up with it in 1880 but he made it in bronze in 1904.

At first it was called the poet but he changed the name to the thinker later on and he was inspired by Michelangelo.

You can actually see a version of it on the Columbia campus.

But it is in France.
This figure is actually 186 (72 inches) tall.

That is the end of our famous art series folks. We may come back to art soon but that is the end of this series.

Art Fun Facts - Part 2

Two days ago we talked about Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry night. Today we are switching it up a little.

We will talk about Michelangelo. Specifically, the Sistine Chapel. This piece of art is in creatable and if you want to know why, if you will stay toned!

This piece of art is incredible for many reasons. One reason is that it is not a painting sculpture or anything but a whole room he painted. Must have taken him a while.
Not exactly for a humongous room like that. It took him four years to do the WHOLE thing. Must be some back pain alright. He painted over five thousand square feet in the process. The ceiling was one hundred thirty one feet by forty three feet.

The first piece of art we will talk about is starry night by… Vincent Van Gogh.
This painting actually lives in New York at the museum of modern art. It was painted in 1889 in France. It’s only 2 ½ feet tall by 3 feet wide (perimeter = 11 ft; area = 7.5 feet).
Vincent Van Gogh really liked to paint the sky. That maybe the reason that he painted this piece of art.

He in fact painted almost the exact same painting a year before.
