11/22/2022 10 Comments Monday Jony PostHello! We, the Jony club are honored to be writing again. This Monday we saw and heard about some soccer that happened. This article contains sports, science and a weekly opinion essay. SPORTS That is a picture from the FIFA world cup today between the United States of America and Wales of the UK. There were not many goals from each team so the score was 1-1. Today was no the final round of the world cup so there can be tie games and on the score each team gets a point. Timony Weah scored a goal for the United States of America and Pulisic gave a beautiful feed or assist. All though there was a defensive player for the US who arguably played better. The goal scored for Wales was scored on a free kick and was scored by Gareth Bale from a rough yellow card to score the tying goal. England has always been a threat for any team as they got barely beaten by Italy in the euro cup two years ago. But they always advance to the finals or a late round every year. SCIENCEThere are theories of the fact that meteorites have been feeding the earth water? I know strange. In England a flying hard object came flying down in England. It says that the object a meteorite came down from out of the solar system splattering fragrance’s (not perfume) but the meteorite contained chemicals similar to our planet earths chemicals. Although this did happen it is a mystery if they actually bring water to our planet. But scientists have came across that asteroids have been bringing us H20 to our planet. Other meteorite’s have been rescued by being tracked down from space. OPINION ESSAYI think kids should not play video games as often.
I think kids should play video games not as often because it makes you in a worse mood when you finish. One example is when you finish playing video games you want to do more and your mood gets worse. The second example is comparing reading and video games. After you finish reading your brain picks up information and video games you stare at a screen and feel like you are getting dumber. The third example is that playing video games is just staring at a screen you are used to school witch is most the time learning and picking up information so your brain ROTS. The second reason I think kids should play less video games in you cant interact with life. One example Is, imagine you are alone and a grownup asks you a question. You have been playing so much video game time you cant hear the adult. The second example is you get so addicted that you cant do your homework or something else when you have to, because your on the addicting screen. The third example is that it’s fake and you can get confused that it’s not real life. And that is why I think that kids should get less video game time.

4/5/2022 3 Comments March Maddness -- In April!Recently, we have seen some sports events take place. Such as college basketball. And that caught our eye! So if you will, stay tuned! Have you heard of March Madness?
That is the battle to be the best college basketball team. College basketball has hundreds of teams. And the fun thing is that every year teams usually beat other teams that contain future NBA players. And two of those teams battled for the championship last night! The game was Kansas vs. UNC (University of North Carolina). I couldn’t watch because it was on to late. 9:20! Kansas had two players that really dominated this game, guard Ochai Agbaji who shot many 3 pointers, and David McCormack who hit a sky hook to give Kansas the lead at the end. But it wasn’t like that the whole game! At halftime they were down by 15 points. That was a great comeback by Kansas! You know, when youre really good at some sport but not in the pros, and then you win a championship game, and you made a sky hook, you chances might not be so slim of becoming a pro! *every one gives a round of a clause! “ummmmmm thank you?” 2/11/2022 1 Comment Friday EditionYes, I know. You are thinking what is a Friday edition? Well in fact my mom gave me a random idea. And you know what, it sort of stuck to my brain. So, if you will, stay tuned! (sorry for all the commas) So let me explain. Our Friday edition is basically were we talk about the events that happened over the week. There are many big events that happened over the past week. So with no words, let’s get started! COVIDSo, recently COVID has been getting a lot better for us in New York. The number of cases used to be higher. On January 10, there were 35,371 new cases in NYC. Yesterday, there were 1,937 new cases. COVID has gotten way, way better. But remember, we still have to stay safe. OLYMPICSOlympic snowboarder Shaun White has officially retired from the Olympics. He was such an incredible Olympian and he won three gold medals out of the five times he was there. And he was the best of all time. PIZZAIf you don’t know, two days ago was national pizza day. That was a big day for Italian restaurant’s. they made so much money that day. And I could make an excuse on my parents for not having to eat ressoto. MOVIESYou ever heard of spider man? Spider man no way home?
If you did not, then you are going to be surprised bye how much that movie is making. (in money) This movie has been around for three months, and has made $even hundred twenty one million$ 2/10/2022 0 Comments THE WINTER OLYMPICS P 2I know I know. We already did the Olympics but so much has happened on the past few days So if you want to pic up new information, So if you will, stay tuned! So if you just heard about the Jony news you are probably are not familiar with our Olympics series. Here we talk about what has happened over the past few days. And if you don’t know how the Olympics works, it is basically your country competing in games that they are very good at. And if your team wins a gold medal, you win that event. So lets get started with our first event… women’s snowboard cross big final! This is a very special event and I am here to tell you why! USA snowboarder Lindsey Jacobellis who had been in the Olympics for over 15 years was competing in this event. She had some experience winning medals. As she won a couple some years ago but never gold. So she came in to the competition she got on her snowboard and started going. Not knowing some thing unexpected was going happen. Later on, she got first place in the race. And she was very close to the finish line. Now, for the reveal… first place (gold medal) Lindsey Jacobellis! Right behind her (silver medal) … Tanja Frieden And third place (bronze medal)… Stacy Gaskill But that was only 295 words I typed there. *exhales* continue The next event we will talk about is men’s figure skating!! Well lets get started. For this event there where many good teams that were rivals. But USA’s Nathen Chen had some tricks up is… umm, mouth? Nathen Chen fell down in 2018 and he did not win a medal but this year he is trying it again.
RIDDLESWe have never done riddles in the Jony news but today we are doing some.
I barely know any riddles but there’s a thing called GOOGLE so let’s just get started Today’s riddle is, “if a plane crashed, where do you bury the survivors? Where? Answer- You don’t bury them they are survivors”. The riddle that won silver medal is… “What color were George Washington’s white teeth?” Answer – they were white! 2/7/2022 0 Comments The Winter OlympicsThe winter can be such an historical time of the year. That is where the winter Olympics can take place. This year the winter Olympics is in Beijing.
And it is day three of the winter Olympics and it is so entertaining to watch. So if you will, stay tuned. In the Olympics there are many games to watch. There are people gliding in the air with skies And all that crazy stuff. Where it really took place was in downhill skiing – the women’s giant slalom. If you don’t know what a slalom is, it’s downhill skiing with a little obstacles. She is one of the best of the best. And who is she? She is Mikaela Shiffrin. She was basically the heart of the team. USA was doing very well until Mikaela fell. That basically ruined the USA in this event but Mikaela has four more races in the Olympics still. HOW MANY MEDALS DO THE BEST TEAMS HAVE?
1/31/2022 0 Comments Football - Part 2Yesterday were some very, very rough games for football fans but not all.
Some went home mid game because they knew that their team was going to lose, but their team actually did not lose. My parents would not let me be typing this if I didn’t talk about those two games! So please stay toned! The first game we will talk about is the Chiefs vs Bengals. This game was what I called a turn on touchdowns. (I need to find a better name) Quick recap on the tEaMs! The CHIEFS are a very fortune team that has many good players but lost to the buccaneers in the super bowl last year. The BENGALS are a team that has not been to the super bowl in 34 years so they could use that. But any ways… The chiefs started with the ball, they got a three and out. That means after three plays the chiefs punted the ball to the bengals. The bengals did the same thing too. The chiefs now have the ball and you know they are trouble. They throw great passes and score a touch down at the end. Bengals now have the ball and they got a first down but then it was a three and out. At the end of the half, the Chiefs had scored 4 touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Bengals had scored 2 touchdowns and a field goal (a field goal is 3 points). It was not the third quarter and things were looking good for the Chiefs, so the Bengals had to score a lot. The Bengals had possession and quickly scored a touchdown with a 69 yard pass. A few possessions later, the Bengals would score another touchdown. Meanwhile, the Chiefs tied the game with a field goal which made the game go to overtime. In overtime, the Chiefs had the ball first, but didn’t score. The Bengals then got the football and scored a field goal to win in 15 plays! So if you will, stay toned! Football It is no longer football season. It is the playoffs though. And boy is there some action or what? I found the wild card (first game of playoffs) to just be incredible. Alrighty, the San Francisco 49ers. This is a team that has been shocking. The regular season was not great for them. And they did still make it to the playoffs. For the wild card they had to face the cowboys. A team that was expected to make it far in the playoffs and the nine-ers new that. Jimmy Garoppolo (quarterback) did not have the best calls from the referee but not nearly as many as the cowboys the referee’s seemed like they were against the cowboys, AT THERE STATIEM And you know that the 49ers are going to take that to there advantage. They scored twenty tree points in that time And the cowboys almost came back but not quite. The score was 23-17 (49ers won) Other scores: raiders – bengals (26 – 19 bengals) Patriots – bills (17 – 49 bills) Eagles – buccaneers (15 – 31 buccaneers) Steelers – chiefs (21 – 42 cheifs) Cardinals – rams (11 – 34 rams) Division round Now for the next part of the NFL playoffs, division round. We only have four games to talk About. But we will chose one game. That game will be... rams vs buccaneers. Now for the people who live in Tampa bay you might want to skip this part of the Jony news. In the start of this game the rams were staring out strong about every position they had they scored a touchdown. It was not looking good for the bucks. But a little in the third quarter they started to really come back in the game oh I mean 27 points and now the rams defense was BARELY able to hold on.
